Thursday, December 6            Miss Post cried this afternoon.  I felt sorry for her and I heard our spelling.  Everyone missed a word except me.  It snowed ferociously coming home.  Took regular Thursday night bath.

Friday, December 7                Mamma sick.  Had a (  ?  ) at Dancing School  Rode with Aunt Dell and Norma.  Only half class was there (due to the basketball game).  I danced with Kelly, Mers, Harris, Thompson, Smith, Bowman, Wade (  ?  ) etc.  Quite cold.

Saturday, December 8                        Cold  Clifford Bodner is going to War.  He was down here to say he”s sold everything.  Cold.  Blizzard.  Awful disaster at Halifax when French ship filled with explosives ran into Belgian relief ship.  Matt went to city.

Sunday, December 9               Cold, Stormy day.  Mamma is a little better.

Monday, December 10           The blizzard certainly fierce.  I walked to school this morning and the snow froze to my eyelashes.  You remember a long time ago the Hindenburg line was broken for several miles?

Tuesday, December 11           Snowed a bit today.  Jerusalem, which has been held by the Turks who are on the side with the Germans was captured by General Allen (British).  This is good news.  For Christmas we are practicing Old Mother Goose in Old Mother Goose’s Christmas.  The Germans are still being held back by the Italians in northern Italy and Bolshaviski has offered Germany a 3 month armistice!

Wednesday, December 12      A terrible cold but sunshiney day.  Father went to Rochester to a Farm Bureau Meeting.  Do you know what I’m  making Mother for Christmas?  Don’t tell her will you.  (A tatted collar for her blue silk dress taffeta dress.)

Thursday, December 13          It’s practice, practice, practice now.

Friday, December 14              Papa took me tonight. Coming home we couldn’t see a thing.  We came home early.

Saturday, December 15          No news.  Tatted most all day.  This year will never be forgotten.  The poor and the rich both are suffering fairly for want of coal.  There is plenty of coal and sugar but, there aren’t cars to (  ?  ) it in.
