International League Hot Dogs

With three cities (Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse) seemingly equally spaced across north-western New York state, its not surprising that they share many similarities yet maintain many of their own unique characteristics. Each city has its own Triple-A baseball team and each city has its own home grown hot dog manufacturer. Given the close proximity of all three cities, its not surprising there are a number of people living in Webster who grew up in the Buffalo or Syracuse area. Many Webster residents have fond memories of their treks to Red Wings games and the taste of a Zweigle's Red or White Hot at the game. Yet (aghast), there are those amongst us with the craving for a Sahlen's Smokehouse hot dog at a Bison's game or a Hofmann's hot dog with the Mets.

Here's a little run down of the teams in the International Baseball League, and the hot dogs they currently sell. Like Rochester, many stadiums sell hot dogs with a familiar regional connection, while others alas, rely on a food service vendor to source their hot dogs.

By the way, National Hot Dog Day falls on the third Wednesday in July each year.
